Report: Free Agent WR Sidney Rice Visiting Jets Wednesday

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that free agent WR Sidney Rice is visiting with the Jets on Wednesday.

  • Albert Breer reports that Jets are giving Rice a physical.

Dr. Andrews recently cleared Rice to participate in football activities, so it’s not surprising to see him line up a visit this week.

Pro Football Talk mentioned that the Seahawks, Giants, Saints, and Panthers reportedly have “some degree” of interest in Rice. However, the Giants and Panthers are expected to be “long shots” to sign him.

The Jets have already added Eric Decker and Jacoby Ford this offseason, but they could use a receiver like Rice given that he offers size and deep-threat ability.

Rice, 27, was limited to appearing in just eight games and caught 15 receptions for 231 yards receiving and three touchdowns in 2013. He’s missed a total of 25 games over the last four years.

We have him listed as the No. 5 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
