Report: Raiders Prefer Derek Carr To Johnny Manziel

According to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times, “word is” the Oakland Raiders like Derek Carr more than Johnny Manziel coming out of the Scouting Combine.

This is just a small note included in Farmer’s recent mock draft, but Farmer is confident enough to projection Carr to the Raiders at No. 5 overall.

Earlier today, we posted an article regarding Manziel possibly not being an option for the Jaguars at No. 3 overall, so this is just another indication that NFL teams may not be as high on Manziel as people think.

Carr put up some impressive numbers during his four-year stint at Fresno State, and was clearly the best quarterback at this year’s Senior Bowl. However, there hasn’t been a lot of buzz regarding him being a first-round pick.

Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network joined “The Dan Patrick Show” last week and that he has spoken to sources who believe the Browns would like to take Carr with their second first-round pick and target a completely different position at No. 4 overall.

For what it’s worth, we actually have the Raiders taking Manziel at No. 5 overall in our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft, but maybe we should consider changing that.
