Report: Georgia RB Todd Gurley Has Torn ACL

Update:

Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report has spoken to two NFL sources that believe Georgia RB Todd Gurley could still be a first-round pick even after he suffered a torn ACL on Saturday.

Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph reports that an MRI on Georgia RB Todd Gurley’s injured knee confirmed that he does in fact have a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.

Gurley is expected to forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the NFL draft, but this is terrible news for a kid that was considered to be one of the best running back in the country.

A few months ago, Gurley was suspended for four games after it was found that he accepted money for autographs. This was his first game back and he managed to run for 138 yards and a touchdown.

Typically, ACL injuries require a 9-12 month recovery period, so there is a chance that this could impact his draft stock to some degree. Given that Gurley hasn’t had any prior knee issues, he should be able to make a full recovery and go on to have a productive NFL career.

Assuming that this is the end of Gurley’s college career, he will have ran for 3,285 yards on 510 carries (6.4 YPC) to go along with 65 receptions for 615 yards receiving and 42 total touchdowns.
