Giants Place G Chris Snee On Season-Ending Injured Reserve

Mike Garafolo reports that Giants G Chris Snee will “likely” be placed on season-ending injured reserve Friday.

  • Garafolo adds that Snee’s injured hip will most likely require surgery as it wasn’t responding to rehab.

Snee, 31, has only missed one game in his NFL career. The Giants, who are currently 0-4, are dealing with a number of injuries to their offensive line. Center David Baas could miss a number of weeks with a neck injury, which means they will most likely be forced to play James Brewer at guard and Jim Cordle at center for the foreseeable future.

Tom Rock of Newsday reports that Giants G Chris Snee‘s hip tear is impacting his ability to move his leg.

Snee played through a hip injury for a few years before undergoing surgery this offseason, but he unfortunately injured his other hip.

“This one has the pain, but he can’t move,” a source told Newsday. “If they don’t get the joint to move again, [surgery] is probably going to be the only option.”

Rock notes that the Giants reworked Snee’s contract this offseason, which could be an indication that the team is willing to move on after the season.

We’ll have to see if his hip improves in the near future or if he’s a candidate for season-ending injured reserve.
