Report: Giants Place RB Brandon Jacobs On Season-Ending IR

Ralph Vacchiano of New York Daily News reports that the Giants have placed RB Brandon Jacobs on season-ending injured.

  • Vacchiano adds that the Giants also signed LB Marcus Dotwin to their active roster and released LB Darin Drakeford from their practice squad.
  • New York signed DE Kendrick Adams and DB Chaz Powell to their practice squad.

New York was hoping that Jacobs would be able to return from a knee injury this season, but a loss to the Chargers in Week 14 basically eliminated any chance of securing a spot in the playoffs.

According to Vacchiano, this could very well be the end of Jacobs’ time with the Giants, which really isn’t all that surprising given that he has been out of the league before signing with the Giants earlier this season.

Jacobs, 31, actually looked better than expected at times this season, so there is at least a remote chance he could find interest on the open market, but certainly no guarantees.
