Jordan Raanan of NJ.com reports that the Giants are releasing veteran C David Bass.
The Giants have been connected to a number free agent centers in recent days including Evan Dietrich-Smith and Brian De La Puente, so this could be an indication that they are confident in signing one of them.
Bass, 32, would have counted $8.225 million against the team’s salary cap for the 2014 season. Releasing him would free up $1.775 million in cap space, however, the team could elect to designate him as a June-1 release which would increase that figure to $5 million.
