Report: Greg Williams Could Be A Hot Defensive Coordinator Candidate This Offseason

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Titans assistant Greg Williams is becoming a hot candidate for potential defensive coordinator positions that could be available next year.

According to La Canfora’s sources, Williams’ work with what many considered to be an underwhelming Titans defense has “hardly gone unnoticed.”

La Canfora specifically mentions that the Cowboys, Packers and Redskins as possible options for him this offseason.

Dallas’ defense has been horrible since Monte Kiffin took over for Rob Ryan. They are currently running 4-3 base defense, which would help Williams transition if he were to get the job.

The Packers, led by Dom Capers, hasn’t been able to stop passing offenses since they won the Super Bowl back in 2010. Green Bay currently runs a 3-4 system, so that could be a bit of an issue for them to consider. The same can be said of Washington.

With the final month of the season upon us, teams are beginning to make their list of possible candidates for coaching and coordinators positions, so we’ll have to see what kind of market develops for Williams this offseason.
