Report: Cowboys Agree To Terms With Veteran G Brian Waters

Update:

Albert Breer reports that the Cowboys have finally reached an agreement with veteran G Brian Waters

  • Adam Schefter reports that Waters’ contract could be worth as much as $3 million.
  • Calvin Watkins reports that Waters worked for the Cowboys Tuesday morning.
  • Waters reportedly requested a week to get into game-shape. (Jean-Jacques Taylor)

Talks have been ongoing for a few months now and last we heard negotiations between the two parties were “dead.”

Prior to the 2012 season, the 36-year-old Waters infamously told the Pats that he would willingly sit out the 2012 season unless the club could move him to a franchise closer to his family in Texas. The team released him this April.

He last played for the New England Patriots in 2011. The six-time Pro Bowler has also spent a decade with the Kansas City Chiefs, who moved him from a tight end to an offensive lineman. Waters’ NFL career actually began with the Cowboys, who signed him as an undrafted free agent in 1999.

Mike Fisher of FOXSportsSouthwest.com reports that the Cowboys’ pursuit of  free agent offensive guard Brian Waters is a “dead deal.

  • According to Fisher, ”it looks like [Waters] just doesn’t want to play football.”

It appears as though the Cowboys will have to look elsewhere for interior offensive line help.

The Dallas Morning News’ Brandon George tweeted Monday morning that the Dallas Cowboys have made more than one offer to free agent offensive guard Brian Waters.

While the two parties have yet to come to an agreement, George remarks the two sides “have been dancing for some time.”

Perhaps a reunion with the Cowboys would be the best case scenario for Waters.
