Report: “Healthy Market” Developing For TE Jermichael Finley

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that a “healthy market” is former for Packers free agent TE Jermichael Finley.

  • La Canfora adds that he still isn’t sure if Finley will be able to secure a long-term contract, but believes he could do well in a one or two-year agreement.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy appeared to express some optimism regarding Finley’s status last week when he mentioned Finley’s spinal fusion surgery was not the same as the one S Nick Collins underwent a few years ago.

Finley’s agent, Blake Baratz, also said that the doctor who performed Finley’s fusion surgery believes he will have a “99.9%” chance of a full recovery.

Finley, 26, figures to be one of the more intriguing unrestricted free agents to watch this offseason. He’s already made it known that he has no intention of taking a reduced salary, despite concerns regarding his future health, but with a decent amount of interest, there is chance he could do better than I would have expected a few months ago.

We have Finley tentatively listed as the No. 70 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
