Report: Jack Del Rio Recruiting Marc Trestman To Be Raiders OC

Mike Garafolo and Alex Marvez are reporting that Jack Del Rio, who is expected to be the next head coach of the Raiders, has been recruiting former Bears HC Marc Trestman to be his offensive coordinator.

  • Garafolo reported earlier in the day that Raiders interim HC Tony Sparano has been telling people that he won’t be back with the team next year.
  • With Jack Del Rio expected to be hired as their next head coach, he will be bringing in a new offensive staff.

Trestman has found interest from a number of teams regarding offensive coordinator vacancies and will be meeting with the Browns on Wednesday.

However, depending on the level of interest from the Raiders, it sounds like they could make a serious run at him.

Landing a coach like Trestman would be a great addition for the Raiders, especially when you consider that they have a young quarterback to develop in Derek Carr.

Last night, Steve Corkran reported that if the Raiders were to hire Del Rio as their next head coach, his top choice for defensive coordinator would be former Falcons HC Mike Smith, so that’s also something to keep an eye on.

We’ll have more updates regarding Trestman and the Raiders as the news is available.

  1. Can someone verify the story and make changes? Headline reads that he is recruiting to be OC but in the first paragraph it reads DC.
