Report: Jaguars Open To Re-Signing RB Maurice Jones-Drew

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars are open to re-signing RB Maurice Jones-Drew.

  • Rapoport adds that the Jaguars and Jones-Drew haven’t had any contract talks up to this point, but Jones-Drew is also open to re-signing with the team.

Jones-Drew, 28, is in the final year of his contract. Jaguars GM David Caldwell told reporters on Thursday that he has no plans to trade any of the team’s veteran this season. It appears as though the Jaguars will allow Jones-Drew to play out the final year of his contract before deciding to engage in long-term contract discussion next offseason. Jacksonville could always use their franchise tag on him if needed.

We have Jones-Drew listed as the No. 26 player in our Top 50 – 2014 Free Agents list.
