Report: Jets & Bucs Have Discussed Adding Mark Sanchez To Trade For Revis

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that a source with knowledge of the situation has informed him that the Buccaneers and Jets have discussed the possibility of adding QB Mark Sanchez to a trade for CB Darrelle Revis.

Florio adds that it’s unknown whether or not Sanchez would be given an opportunity to compete for the team’s starting job if he were to be deal to Tampa Bay.

There has been some speculation circulating around that the Jets could be trying to add QB Tim Tebow to the trade for Revis, but it’s somewhat surprising to hear that Sanchez has been discussed.

It’s become clear that Sanchez is no longer a part of the Jets’ long-term plans, so it makes sense that they would at least propose the idea, seeing as the Buccaneers are known to be looking for another quarterback. Still, Sanchez stands to make a guaranteed base salary of $8.25 million for the upcoming season, which is huge money for someone who could end up being a backup.

This seems like a long-shot idea, but I guess there’s always a chance that something could come of these reported discussions.
