Nothing Imminent Involving Teddy Bridgewater, Has A Few Options

Update:

Josina Anderson reports that there’s “nothing imminent” involvingĀ free agent QB Teddy Bridgewater, who has a “few choices” to consider right now.

The Jets signed Josh McCown, but reports have said that that move doesn’t rule out them also bringing in Bridgewater at some point.

Given the concerns regarding Bridgewater’s knee, it would make sense for him to visit with interestedĀ teams before signing.

Bryant McFadden of CBS Sports reports that the Jets and free agent QB Teddy Bridgewater are finalizing a contract.

  • Rich Cimini confirms that the Jets are in the midst of negotiations with Bridgewater.
  • Ian Rapoport adds that the Jets are working on a deal withĀ Bridgewater and while he has other options, New York is his “firstĀ choice.”

Dianna Russini of ESPN reported earlier that the Jets were likely turning their attention toĀ Bridgewater after missing out on signing Kirk Cousins.

Bridgewater, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $6,849,502 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,354,023 for the 2017 season.

The Vikings declined to pick up Bridgewater’s fifth-year option that would have cost them $12,198,000 million for the 2018 season. Bridgewater will now be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2017, Bridgewater appeared in one game for the Vikings and was 0-2 passing and threw an interception.
