Jets Release WR Braylon Edwards

The New York Jets announced the release of veteran wide receiver Braylon Edwards Monday afternoon.

Edwards, 30, appeared to be in a great situation on a team depleted of  depth at receiver. He was previously listed as the fourth receiver for the club.

This marks the fourth time in four years a club has given up on him. One of those clubs, ironically, was the Jets back in 2010. The 49ers and Seahawks also kicked around the tires on Edwards, but he didn’t last longer than a season with either.

After a five year stint with the Browns to begin his career, this could be the end of the road in the NFL. His most productive season came in 2007 with Cleveland when he 80 balls for 1,289 yards and 16 touchdowns. The Browns finished 10-6 that season, but missed the playoffs.
