Report: Jonathan Vilma, Pat Angerer & Tim Dobbins All Possibilities For The Falcons

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Falcons are taking a “hard look” at free agent ILB Jonathan Vilma to replace Sean Weatherspoon, who suffered a season-ending knee injury this week.

  • According to Rapoport, the Falcons are also considering linebackers Pat Angerer and Tim Dobbins.
  • Rapoport adds that the Falcons could bring Vilma in for a visit if everything checks out on his medical.
  • Veterans London Fletcher and James Harrison are reportedly now options for Atlanta.

Vilma’s agent has been trying drum up interest in his client as he has reportedly reached out to the Dolphins and informed the Cowboys that he’s ready to go if needed.

Vilma, 32, hasn’t found any reported interest the entire offseason, but there could end up being increased interest in free agents now that it’s June 1 and signing players won’t count against a team’s 2015 compensatory formula.

It’s worth mentioning that Vilma has missed 25 games over the course of the past three seasons.

Angerer, 27, was selected by the Colts in the second-round draft of the 2010 NFL Draft. Last year, he totaled 63 tackles, 0.5 sacks and an interception over the course of 11 games.

Pro Football Focus has Angerer rates as the No. 36 inside linebacker in the league last season.

We have both players listed in ourBest Available Free Agents list.
