ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Saints ILB Jonathan Vilma is undergoing knee surgery Thursday in Philadelphia.
- Schefter adds that Vilma is expected to sideline him the remainder of the preseason, but the Saints are hoping to have him back for the start of the season.
Vilma, 31, has reportedly been dealing with swelling and discomfort in his knee, so they elected to address it now in the hope that he will be back in time for the start of the season. He has one year remaining on his contract, so it’s clearly an important season for him.
