Report: LeGarrette Blount Has Been An “Internal Problem” For Steelers

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that RB LeGarrette Blount has been an internal problem for the Steelers for at least a month.

Sources tell Bouchette that Blount has been dragging down breakout RB Le’Veon Bell during this time.

Blount left the field and headed to the locker room before Monday night’s game had concluded after he didn’t receive a single carry against the Titans. One Steelers player said that they should have left Blount in Tennessee last night.

Blount, 27, signed a two-year, $3.85 million contract with the Steelers back in March. He’ll make a base salary of $900,000 this season and another $2 million next year.

However, Pittsburgh could free up $2 million by releasing him next year, according to OverTheCap.com’s calculator.

This season, Blount has ran for 266 yards on 65 carries (4.1 YPC) and caught six passes for 36 yards receiving to go along with two total touchdowns.
