Report: Long-Term Agreement Between Panthers & DE Greg Hardy Unlikely Before Deadline

Albert Breer of the NFL Network reports that a long-term agreement between the Panthers and DE Greg Hardy is “unlikely” before Tuesday’s deadline to negotiate with franchised players.

This should come as no surprise given that Hardy will be appearing in court tomorrow for a domestic violence dispute that occurred in May with ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder.

On top of that, there has been no reported progress between the two parties regarding a contract extension.

The Panthers and the NFL could hand down punishment for his involvement in the domestic violence incident once his court case has concluded.

Hardy will make $13.116 million under the franchise tag and should get the opportunity to pursue a long-term contract on the open market next year. In 2013, Hardy totaled 59 tackles, 15 sacks and a forced fumble for Carolina.

We have Hardy listed as the No. 4 player in our Top 25 – 2015 Free Agents List.
