Report: LSU QB Zach Mettenberger Has Torn ACL

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that LSU QB Zach Mettenberger suffered a torn ACL during Saturday’s game against the Arkansas Razorbacks and will obviously miss the team’s upcoming bowl game.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun has confirmed with separate sources that Mettenberger does in fact have a torn ACL.

  • According to two NFL scouting directors he spoke with, Mettenberger is expected to still be a first-round pick next year.
  • Wilson adds that no surgery is currently scheduled for Mettenberger.

On the season, Mettenberger has completed 65 percent of his passes for 3,082 yards, 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Mettenberger is believed to be a first-round talent and one of the best quarterback prospects in next year’s draft class, so we’ll have to see if this has an impact on his draft stock come next May.

We have Mettenberger listed as the No. 25 player in our 2014 NFL Big Board.
