Report: Manti Te’o Will Not Speak to Media Until June

According to Marc Sessler of NFL.com, a San Diego Chargers spokesman announced Monday that former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o will not be available to the media until mid-June when the team meets for minicamp.

Te’o, the Chargers’ second-round draft pick this year, has been in the center of a catfishing hoax dating back to January. He has had little interaction with the media aside from a couple controlled interviews and an NFL Combine press conference.

The Chargers are making what is called an “organizational decision” to keep Te’o out of the spotlight for now, according to Michael Gehlken of the U-T San Diego.

While the Chargers are trying to protect the rookie as much as possible, they are merely delaying the inevitable. Te’o will have to speak to the masses at some point. The Chargers are just hoping that time is not now.
