Report: Michael Crabtree’s Market Crashed After Playing “Poker” With Teams

According to Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report, sources around the league believe free agent WR Michael Crabtree‘s market crashed after playing “poker” with teams this offseason.

Cole mentions that Crabtree was expecting to secure a contract that would pay him close to $9 or $10 million per year.

As things stand right now, it looks like Crabtree may have to accept a one- or two-year “make good” contract with the hope of testing the open market in the coming years.

There’s still a chance that Crabtree’s agent could get some team to step up an offer him a more respectable contract at some point.

In the end, Cole doesn’t see Crabtree getting the kind of money he’s seeking given where we are in the offseason and the fact that there is another deep draft class of receivers this year.

Crabtree has visited with the Dolphins and reportedly still has interest from the 49ers. However, Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area recently reported that Crabtree is willing to wait as long it takes to find the right situation for him.

Crabtree, 27, appeared in all 16 games and caught 68 passes for 698 yards receiving and four touchdowns last year. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 95 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

We have Crabtree listed as the No. 34 player in our Top 1oo Free Agents list.

We’ll have more regarding Crabtree and where he could end up as the news is available.
