Report: Michigan LT Taylor Lewan Will Face Charges For Assualt

Kyle Feldscher of the Ann Arbor News reports that Michigan LT Taylor Lewan will be arraigned on three charges that stem from an incident that occurred last year.

  • Feldscher adds that online records show that Lewan will face one count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault or assault and battery.

According to detective Lt. Robert Pfannes, Lewan is the only person facing charges at this point in time.

“Unless new information surfaces, it appears he’s the only who is going to be charged at this time,” Pfannes said.

Lewan addressed the alleged assault at the Scouting Combine a few months ago.

“I wasn’t in any fight. I was actually breaking something up. Some guy said I slugged him,” Lewan said, per Dane Brugler. “That’s not who I am off the field. It’s not the kind of person I am. It might seem that way bc of the way I play football.”

Lewan’s combine performance was enough for him to enter the discussion for a potential top-ten pick. However, this situation is worth monitoring given that it could impact his draft stock in the coming weeks.
