Report: Ndamukong Suh “Highly Unlikely” To Be Traded

This news probably won’t come as a huge surprise, but Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Lions are “highly unlikely” to trade DT Ndamukong Suh, even though there hasn’t been any progress made towards a long-term contract.

A previous report mentioned that Detroit had discussed the possibility of moving Suh with NFL teams, but Lions GM Martin Mayhew later refuted the idea.

According to Florio, “no discussions or negotiations aimed at a possible trade have occurred.” Florio adds that Suh would have to be involved in the process given that a contract extension would need to be in place to complete an agreement, which would only complicate the situation further.

Suh, 27, entering the final year of his rookie deal and is in a great position to secure a huge contract extension that will once again set the bar even higher for the defensive tackle position. Suh stands to make $11.55 million for the 2014 season and has a massive cap figure of $22.4 million.

Last year, 48 tackles, 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble for Detroit. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 2 defensive tackle in the league last season.
