Report: Ndamukong Suh Wants To Play For Seahawks, Raiders Could “Overbid” For Him

According to Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report, free agent DT Ndamukong Suh would like to play for the Seattle Seahawks.

Cole mentions that signing with Seattle would Suh’s “No. 1 choice,” as he’s from the west coast and are a competitive team.

However, Cole adds that Suh signing with the Seahawks is a “pipe dream” at this point given that they will have to address other players like QB Russell Wilson in the coming months.

Suh is reportedly willing to consider signing with a west coast team, but his preference would be to play for a contender.

While the Raiders and Jaguars don’t fall into the category of being a contender next year, they are still expected to be “serious contenders” when it comes to signing Suh.

Cole points to the fact that they both have plenty of cap space to work with this offseason and they’ll be required to spend a large portion of this money.

With the Raiders being on the west coast and in the market for major upgrades, Cole believes they could overbid for a player of Suh’s caliber.

It’s hard to know what to believe right now regarding Suh outside of the fact that he’ll end up being of the highest paid defensive players in the league.

Recent reports have indicated that the Lions could prove to be the best option for Suh in the end, and the team president Tom Lewand said last week that he believes there is a “very, very good chance” they will be able to get a long-term contract in place with Suh.

He wants to have success in the NFL, obviously, but he wants to do that with us,” Lewand said, via the Detroit Free Press. “And I think that — I think there’s a very, very good chance that we can get something done with him in the next few weeks.

The Lions are unlikely to franchise Suh given that it would cost them $26.87 million, so we’ll have to see if negotiations pick up in the coming weeks.

Suh, 27, recorded 51 tackles, 8.5 sacks and three pass defenses over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 defensive tackle in the league.

We have Suh ranked as the No. 2 player in our Top 50 – 2015 Free Agents List.

  1. Jim, look at the facts, the Seahawks fought thru adversity all season…fighting to win until the last whistle. In the superb owl they were playing with injuries that need sursurgery or missing guys at starting de, both dt, 3rd cb, 1st cb, both safeties, big play speed wr/kr, #1,3,4 te, fb and #4,5,6 DE yet they were still within 1/2 a yard of going back to back Champs.

Wilson had either the top or in top 5 of late game come backs. They lost a lot of players to i.r. this season. They’re down their 2 best d.t., several backup d.e., down several rb/fb and 2 of top 4 t.e., they played several gamed without left tackle and center, they did the same being down #3_4_5 cb, they played without star lb and safety 1/3 the season, they were down a ton of role players and special teamers as well. Plus all the made up stories this year by the media.

Other then oline penalties and some dine the Seahawks didn’t have many penalties in other areas and played their schemes disciplined more so then others most of the season even though overall they’re most penalized.

There’s only 1 guy on the team that had any character concerns and he’s had no issues since entering the league. Yes there’s 2-3 brash guys, but there’s no thugs whatsoever in the organization and they’re all very active in the communities. Majority of time they’re just responding honestly to questions or snide comments made publicly about them. Win or lose vast majority of them do so with class, even after losing superb owl seeking Brady out and shaking his hand like he did with crabtree.

I understand if people don’t like them for whatever reason, but make sure what you’re saying is based in reality and not twisted tmz b.s. I dislike the Raiders, vikings, pats, steelers, saints and 49rs because of either cheating, cheapshots, their fans and or lack of class even though there may be players and or coaches I like or respect. Like the Packers with wrong ruling on fail Mary play and this past nfc champ game their fans showed class, the 49rs and several other fan groups are just plain stupid and lack class.

OK now about Suh to Seattle… he would fit in perfectly here with his skill set and nasty demeanor. Carol and others I think would get thru to him on a personal level and on up to a professional level. Problem is or would be his salary vs cap space. Sea has to extend Wilson and Wagner still for sure and probably dt Jordan Hill. They’d have to trade Mebane or convince him to take massive pay cut, restructure okung contract and work some magic in draft, f.a. and a few other current contracts.

Or would that money be better spent getting via free agency or trade a TE like Cameron, Thomas etc, going after a big or big play WR who’s a deep and RAC threat, a Guard like Iupati or a RT who can also play decent LT in a pinch, maybe another FB like hynoskie, Felton or Reece, maybe find a cb to replace maxwell or to play nickel cb, one more big time DE who plays run a Lil better like Harvey or Houston to get that monster pass rush rotation back, there’s also 2–3 other defensive tackles who would help d line as well, not as much as Suh but not as expensive either, last thing would be a kr/pr guy who can break it open. Last thing depending on lynch is a rb either draft or free agency. So for the price of Suh Seattle could likely get 2-4 key pieces for team, get injured dt back and draft a new one to groom for future or spend 1/3 his cost for a pretty good dt in fa, so unless Suh is willing to only take 9-13 mil a season vs projected jj watt 15+ mil a year. I’d l love to have him but not if it hurts team in other areas a lot.

  2. He’s a perfect fit for this bunch of undisciplined loudmouth, thug punks who fold up like a cheap suit once adversity hits.
