Report: NFL Could Take Action Regarding Panthers DE Greg Hardy

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that the NFL could intervene in the situation involving Panthers DE Greg Hardy.

According to Florio, the league could suspend Hardy without pay for violating the personal-conduct policy.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network confirms that the NFL is discussing the situation and adds that they could either impose discipline or offer guidance in the situation.

This comes just a day after Panthers HC Ron Rivera announced that Hardy is back with the team and they expect to evaluate his situation this week.

Rivera eluded to the team being in a tough position regarding whether to play Hardy on Monday.

If you play him and you win, you don’t have a conscience,” Rivera said. “You play him and you lose it’s a distraction.”

However, the NFL getting involved in this situation would alleviate some of the pressure the team is facing for their decision to allow Hardy to continue playing, despite being charged for domestic violence. It’s worth mentioning that Hardy is currently appearing the ruling.

We’ll have more updates regarding Hardy and the Panthers as the news is available.
