Report: NFL GMs Expect Packers To Take C.J. Mosely Or Ryan Shazier

Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net reports that NFL GMs expect the Packers to come away from Thursday’s round one with either Alabama LB C.J. Mosely or Ohio State LB Ryan Shazier.

  • According to Pauline, Packers DC would “push hard” for UCLA OLB Anthony Barr if he were to fall to them at No. 21.
  • Pauline mentions that there is a chance that they could trade back and take a center like Colorado State’s Weston Richburg.

Ian Rapoport spoke with an NFL GM recently who mentioned that Mosley “looks like a Packer.” However, Rapoport adds that Shazier remains an option for Green Bay as well.

The Packers are really in a position to take the best available player at No. 21 overall, but it would certainly make for an interesting decision if both Mosley and Shazier were still on the board at that point.

Mosley has some serious injury concerns and doesn’t possess the speed of Shazier. On top of that, Shazier could actually be the more versatile player moving forward.

We have the Packers taking Shazier in our final 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
