Report: NFL, NFLPA Considering League Calendar Changes

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter, the NFL and NFL Players Association are strongly considering altering the league’s offseason calendar, which will directly affect free agency and the draft.

The current league year, which usually begins around mid-March with free agency and trades, is rumored to be moved up prior to the NFL Combine, generally held in late February. In contrast, the NFL Draft would be pushed back a month to May.

The proposed moves would be done for the fans, so that there is a different headlining event each month of the offseason to help keep fans’ attention up over a longer period of time, as well as create additional revenue.

Schefter also adds the NFL and NFLPA would make these changes for the next three seasons, should they be approved.
