Report: NFL Teams “Plan To Call” The Jaguars Regarding DE Jason Babin

Jason Cole is reports that NFL teams “plan to call” the Jacksonville Jaguars regarding the availability of veteran DE Jason Babin.

  • Cole’s initially indicated that the team had already received calls, but a separate source informed him that no one has show interest up to this point.

With the Jaguars starting off the season 0-6, it would make sense for them to field calls regarding almost any player. Jacksonville has already sent LT Eugene Monroe to the Ravens, and RB Maurice Jones-Drew has been rumored to available for weeks now.

Injuries have already begun to build up for teams around the NFL, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see some interest in Babin.

Babin, 33, has a guaranteed salary of $4.225 million, which will almost certainly impact the kind of draft compensation the Jaguars will be able to get for him. A conditional late-round pick would be my best guess.
