Report: NFL Would Want Mark Davis To Sell Raiders For Them To Move To L.A.

Jason La Canfora reports that there is “considerable attention” being paid by NFL officials to the stadium situation involving the Oakland Raiders.

League sources have told La Canfora that the NFL believes the Raiders could sell for $2 billion or more and a sale would be the “the most likely path for a move to Los Angeles.

La Canfora mentions that the league will be “very careful about who gets that Los Angeles market” and concerns remain regarding Raiders owner Mark Davis and his limitations in real estate, marketing and overall business expertise.

The NFL reportedly has a short-list of owners-in-waiting with Larry Ellison at the top of the list.

It still won’t be easy to convince Davis to see the team founded by his father, especially if he believes he can make things work in Los Angeles. However, he has spent time with San Antonio officials regarding a potential move to Texas, but that’s hardly at the top of the NFL’s priority list.

According to La Canfora, there are numerous people round the league that are waiting for the Rams to announce their intent to move to L.A. by the February. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and owners reportedly view Los Angeles as a “two-team town” so this wouldn’t prevent the Raiders from relocating as well.

  1. No! Raiders belong to the Davis family. Stay in Oakland mark & put this team together. Once the team is achieving success than make the move for the stadium in Oakland!
