Report: Nick Foles’ Fractured Collarbone Only 70% Healed

Howard Eskin of FOX 29 reports that Eagles QB Nick Foles‘ broken collarbone is only 70 percent healed as of now.

Eagles HC Chip Kelly wasted no time in ruling Foles out for Week 16’s game against the Redskins, as an announcement was made on Monday.

Philadelphia has already been without Foles for six games, so it could still be a few more weeks before he’s ready to return. The question is whether the Eagles feel it would be best to go back to Foles or keep Mark Sanchez in place as their starter with the postseason just a few week away.

There’s no guarantee that Philadelphia will be playing in the postseason, but they are clearly in the mix have a decent enough chance at securing a spot.

Garafolo mentions that Foles still has a chance to be back for a playoff game, which is why they have yet to place him on season-ending injured reserve.

Last year, Aaron Rodgers missed seven weeks with the same injury and didn’t look like he was 100 percent even after he returned for their Week 17 matchup.

Foles, 25, still has another year remaining on his four-year, $2.769 million rookie contract, which includes a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.

Over the course of five games, Sanchez has thrown for 1,752 yards while completing 61.9 percent of his passes to go along with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

We’ll have more updates regarding Foles’ injury as the news is available.
