Report: No Josh Gordon Settlement Talks As Of Now

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that there has been no settlement talks regarding a reduced suspension for Browns WR Josh Gordon up to this point.

Florio mentions that even if Gordon were to receive a 15-game suspension rather than the full year-long suspension he’s currently facing, it would allow Gordon to to rejoin the team for the 2015 offseason.

Should Gordon be suspended for the entire 2014 season, he wouldn’t be able to return to the Browns until shortly before the start of the 2015 preseason.

Gordon’s appeal hearing ended earlier this week and a ruling is expected to come in a “reasonable time,” but this wouldn’t prevent the NFL and the NFLPA from negotiating a settlement.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Tuesday that the Browns are bracing themselves for Gordon to receive “at least” an eight-game suspension.

Cabot added that a decision in Gordon’s appeal hearing could take anywhere from one to three weeks.

Gordon and his attorney’s maintain that his positive test was triggered by second-hand smoke and point to the fact that he has passed 70 drug tests since 2012.

Last year, Gordon caught 87 receptions for 1,646 yards receiving and and nine touchdowns over the course of 14 games.

Well have more regarding Gordon as the news is available.
