Report: No Progress Between 49ers & HC Jim Harbaugh Regarding An Extension

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that “not much is happening” between the 49ers and HC Jim Harbaugh regarding a long-term contract extension.

Florio adds that San Francisco has extended Harbaugh an offer, but have yet to hear back from him and his representatives.

Harbaugh reportedly wants to be paid as one of the top coaches in the league, but the 49ers have continued to show some reluctance towards compensating him at that level, despite his success in the league.

If a deal is unable to reached, Harbaugh appears to be willing to become a free agent and allow the market to set his value.

There is no question that he would have plenty interest from teams looking turn their franchise around.

It’s worth mentioning that the 49ers have said publicly on multiple occasions that an extension for Harbaugh remains a priority, but we’ll have to see if talk pick up in the months leading up to the start of the regular season.
