Packers Keep QBs Matt Flynn & Scott Tolzien

Update:

The Green Bay Packers announced their roster cuts to get down to 53 players Saturday and both Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien made the team.

Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Packers are in fact keeping both backup QBs Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien on their 53-man roster, despite the previous report that only one would make the team.

———-

Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports that the Packers do not have plans to keep three quarterbacks on their roster, despite speculation that both Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien could make the team.

It appears as though the consensus view favors Tolzien, as he has a much better arm and could develop into a very solid backup quarterback in time.

However, Flynn has managed to win a few games for the Packers and actually did a better job than Tolzien did filling in for Aaron Rodgers last year. It’s worth mentioning that Tolzien was with the team for a matter of days before he was forced into game action.

We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
