Report: Packers Prepared To Move On Without WR James Jones

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Packers have not extended WR James Jones a contract offer as of yet and aren’t likely to do so in the coming months.

“I don’t think Ted Thompson wants him,” Jones’ agent Frank Bauer said at the combine.

Bauer mentioned that he has met with a few teams at the combine to discuss his client as a potential fit, however, it appears as though the amount of talent at the receiver position and in free agency are likely to impact Jones considerably.

McGinn adds that the development of Jarrett Boykin is likely to impact the team’s decision regarding Jones.

Jones, 29, has been a consistent receiver for the Packers in recent years and was able to produce 14 touchdowns two years ago. In 2013, Jones caught 59 passes for 817 yards and 3 touchdowns.

We have him listed as the No. 67 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
