Report: Packers RT Bryan Bulaga Has MCL Sprain, Not Expected To Miss Much Time

Update:

Packers HC Mike McCarthy mentioned that RT Bryan Bulaga wants to try and test his knee on Wednesday, but the team’s medical staff doesn’t want him to, per Aaron Nagler.

They’ll reevaluate the situation in the coming days.

Rob Demovsky of ESPN mentions that MCL injuries typically require 2-4 weeks to heal and usually do not require surgery.

  • Adam Schefter clarifies that Bryan Bulaga‘s injury is an MCL sprain, which is technically still a tear.
  • Schefter’s source said that Bulaga “should not miss much time.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Packers RT Bryan Bulaga sustained a torn MCL during Thursday night’s opener.

  • According to Schefter, it remains to be seen how much time Bulaga will miss due to this injury.

This could prove to be horrible news for Packers as former first-round pick Derek Sherrod played poorly in relief of Bulaga last night. On top of that, Bulaga suffered a torn ACL and missed the entire 2013 season, so there are some serious concerns about his ability to stay on the field.

Bulaga, 25, is entering the final year of his rookie and will make $2,565,500 for the 2014 season. Given that he will be an unrestricted free agent next year, this figures to have a bid impact on his next contract.
