Report: Patriots Agree To Terms With TE Nate Byham

Mike Reiss of ESPN reports that the New England Patriots have agreed to terms with veteran TE Nate Byham, according to a league source.

  • Reiss notes that the deal is pending a physical.

Byham, 26, spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being drafted by the 49ers in 2010.  Byham is a blocking specialist, having caught only six passes in 15 career games with the Bucs.

Byham is recovering from a torn ACL last October, but the Patriots have been looking into signing him for the better part of the offseason.

New England is uncharacteristically thin at tight end, with Byham likely competing with veteran D.J. Williams, and undrafted rookie Justin Jones for a spot on the roster.
