Report: Patriots Reach An Agreement With DT Tommy Kelly

Ian Rapoport reports that a source has informed him that the Patriots have reached an agreement with free agent DT Tommy Kelly on a two-year contract.

  • Rapoport adds that Kelly had a decent amount of interest on the open market, but isn’t able to provide and specific teams.

Kelly, 32, was recently released by the Raiders in order to free up some additional cap space.  Jason La Canfora expected Kelly to sign quickly, and it only wound up taking him two weeks to find a new team.

Last year, Kelly graded out as the No. 74 defensive tackle in league, according to Pro Football Focus, so he’ll clearly need to show some improvement to ensure he’s around for the duration of his new deal.
