Field Yates of ESPN.com reports that Patriots have restructured the contract of DT Tommy Kelly and in turn created $800,000 in cap space.
Kelly, 33, is in the final year of his two-year, $5 million contract that included a $1 million signing bonus. He would have earned $2.5 million in 2014, which included $1.95 million in base salary, a $50,000 workout bonus and $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses.
Kelly will now receive a base salary of $955,000, a $100,000 signing bonus and $800,000 in per game roster bonuses.
Last year, Kelly appeared in five games and totaled 22 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.
