Patriots “Highly Optimistic” That Danny Amendola Will Play In Week 5

Update:

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that the New England Patriots “remain highly optimistic” about WR Danny Amendola‘s chances of playing on Sunday.

We’ll have more regarding the status of Amendola and TE Rob Gronkowski leading up to kickoff Sunday.

Karen Guregian reports that there is “more optimism” that Patriots WR Danny Amendola will play this weekend than with TE Rob Gronkowski

  • Guregian adds that Gronkowski is still “not a sure bet for Sunday.

Meanwhile, Pro Football Talk‘s Mike Florio reports that a league source has informed him that Gronkowski is “unlikely to play” in Week 5 game.

There is still a chance that Gronkowski could suit up for Sunday’s game against the Bengals, but it appears as he’s more likely to return for Week 6’s game against the Saints.

Adam Schefter of ESPN confirms that both WR Danny Amendola and TE Rob Gronkowski did not travel with the rest of the team to Atlanta and have now been ruled out of Sunday’s game.

Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that sources have informed him that Patriots could have both WR Danny Amendola and TE Rob Gronkowski available for Sunday’s game against the Falcons.

“As of today, they are playing,” said Volin’s source. “But a lot of time between now and Sunday night.”

Both players have practiced on a limited basis throughout the week, so even with this report, there are still plenty of questions regarding their Week 4 status. We’ll have more leading up kickoff on Sunday.
