Shalise Manza Young reports that sources have informed her that Patriots Julian Edelman has suffered a setback to his broken right foot and is now sporting walking boot.
Last year, the Patriots were forced to place Edelman on season-ending injured reserve after he broke his foot back in early December. Edelman is hoping to be ready in time for the team’s minicamp which starts on June 11, but even if he’s able to return, it’s likely that he’ll only be able to participate on a limited basis.
Edelman, 26, signed a one-year deal worth a maximum of just $1.15 million with the Patriots a few weeks ago. The contract includes no guaranteed money, so he has every incentive to get back as soon as he realistically can to compete for a roster spot.
