Report: Penn State Expected To Make A “Strong Push” To Sign Greg Schiano

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Penn State is preparing for HC Bill O’Brien to depart for the NFL.

O’Brien is reportedly at the “overwhelming favorite” for the Texans job, although Houston intends to meet with at least one more candidate this next week.

Rapoport adds that Penn State AD Dave Joyner is prepared to make a “strong push” to sign Buccaneers HC Greg Schiano if O’Brien leaves.

  • Rapoport adds that Joyner is considering flying to Tampa in the near future to make a push to sign Schiano.
  • Although, Schiano would reportedly prefer to stay in the NFL.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that although it appeared that Schiano would be fired earlier in the season, “Schiano remains at worst in the undecided category.”

According to Florio, there is a chance that Schiano could be back in Tampa Bay with Buccaneers instead firing offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan.

Sullivan reportedly has interest in the Army head coaching job, which is an indication that he is aware of the fact that his time with the Bucs could be coming to an end.
