Seahawks WR Percy Harvin “Absolutely” Expects To Play This Weekend

Update:

Seahawks WR Percy Harvin mentioned that he “absolutely” expects to play against the Saints this weekend, per Liz Mathews.

“This team is set,” Harvin said, per Bart Hubbach. “I’m just looking forward to jumping on the bus and enjoying the ride.”

Harvin has only played in one game this season after suffering a hip injury several months ago. It’s hard to say what kind of role he’ll have against the Saints, but it certainly can’t hurt to have a dynamic offensive weapon back in the fold for a playoff run.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll told reporters on Monday that WR Percy Harvin will return to practice this Thursday with intention of playing in round two of the playoffs.

“We’ll see what happens,” Carroll said, per Curtis Crabtree. “That’s the intention. We’re going to see how he goes.”

This comes as pretty surprising news given that reports from last week (located below) indicated that it was looking like Harvin could end up on season-ending injured reserve.

Getting Harvin back for a playoff run is obvious great news for Seattle. We’ll have more updates throughout the week.

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that Seahawks WR Percy Harvin‘s hip is “still sore and hasn’t improved,” despite not playing since Week 11.

Rapoport cites two sources with direct knowledge of the injuries who have informed him that Harvin is doubtful to play any time soon and it appears as though he will end up on injured reserve.

HC Pete Carroll mentioned that injured reserve was a possibility for Harvin last week, so this news isn’t all that shocking.

Seattle has a bye wrapped up, which means they can hold off another week or so before making a decision on Harvin. Sitting out nearly the entire season would be a big disappointment, considering that they traded a first-round pick and immediately signed him to a huge six-year deal worth $67 million that includes $25.5 million guaranteed.

Harvin, 25, is under contract through the 2018 season, so there is plenty of time for him to live up to that contact.
