Report: Peyton Manning Plans On Returning Next Year

Wood Paige of the Denver Post, citing “three trustworthy sources,” reports that Peyton Manning wants to return for the 2015 season.

However, Paige mentions that Manning can’t make a final decision right now given that he’s required to take an annual physical examination mandated by his contract.

There has already been a lot made about the Broncos decision to hire Gary Kubiak as their new head coach, seeing as there could be a concern about Manning being a good fit in his offensive scheme.

During his introductory press conference, Kubiak downplayed these concerns.

Well, it’s easy to build a playbook for him,” Kubiak said. “I mean, he’s been the master at it for many, many years, and you’re talking about a Hall of Fame player, a Hall of Fame person.

I look forward to learning that style of system that (Manning) has.”

Manning, 38, has another two years remaining on his five-year, $96 million contract, which includes base salaries of $19 million for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. If he’s still on the team’s roster as of the final day of the 2014 league year, his base salary becomes fully guaranteed..

Manning’s 2014 season ended with him throwing for 4,727 yards while completing 66.2 percent of his passes to go along with 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

We’ll have more updates regarding the Broncos and Manning as the news is available.
