Raiders Officially Sign RB Roy Helu To A Two-Year Deal Worth Around $4M

Update:

The Oakland Raiders officially announced the signing RB Roy Helu on Wednesday.

Adam Caplan reports that the Raiders have agreed to terms with former Redskins RB Roy Helu.

  • Josina Anderson reports that Helu will receive a two-year contract worth just over $4 million.

Helu reportedly had interest from the Jets, Patriots, and Giants, but it looks like he’s headed to Oakland.

This could be an indication that the Raiders aren’t seriously in the mix for RB DeMarco Murray, despite the recent reports.

Helu, 26, ran for 216 yards on 40 carries (5.4 YPC) and caught 42 passes for 477 yards receiving to go along with three touchdowns last year. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 running back out of 57 qualifying players.

We had Helu listed as the No. 75 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
