Report: Raiders Bringing Back WR Michael Crabtree For 2018 Season

Vic Tafur of The Athletic, citing league sources, reports that the Raiders plan to bring back veteran WR Michael Crabtree for the 2018 season.

According to Tafur, Crabtree met with new HC Jon Gruden in the past month and have apparently worked out any issues that existed under Jack Del Rio and the prior staff.

A report from December mentioned that the Raiders were expected to move on from Crabtree this offseason due to a disappointing 2017 season. However, that was before the Raiders hired Gruden as their new head coach and it appears as though he’s comfortable giving Crabtree another shot.

Crabtree, 30, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2009. He spent six years in San Francisco before signing on with the Raiders in 2015.

Crabtree is entering the fourth year of his five-year, $34 million contract that included $19 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $7 million and $7.5 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Crabtree appeared in 14 games and caught 58 passes for 618 yards receiving and eight touchdowns for the Raiders. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 62 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
