Report: Raiders Reach An Agreement With DB Charles Woodson

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that the Raiders have reached an agreement with veteran DB Charles Woodson.

  • Josina Anderson reports that Woodson has signed a one-year deal worth a max of $4.3 million that includes a $700,000 signing bonus.
  • Anderson adds that Woodson will have a base salary of $1.8 million this season.
  • Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos offered Woodson a one-year deal worth a maximum of $3.7 million which included “reachable incentives.”

Woodson met with the Raiders earlier in the day and reports indicated that Oakland had made him a contract offer. The Broncos also made him an offer as well, but they were taking a wait-and-see approach regarding the situation.

Woodson, 36, returns to the team that drafted him after spending a number years with the Green Bay Packers. Oakland could really use some additional help and veteran leadership in their secondary. It will be interesting to see how they use him this season.

We had Woodson listed as the No. 12 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.
