Raiders Keeping Dennis Allen As Head Coach

Update:

Raiders owner Mark Davis has confirmed that HC Dennis Allen will be back with the team next season.

“We met (Tuesday) evening at the Raider facility, and the meeting went really well,” Davis told ESPN.com. “We talked about a lot of things, from personnel issues to the coaches to a review of the past season to the draft and our needs for next season. … We’re ready to rock and roll.

Davis referred to the meeting as end-of-season “protocol,” and added that Allen’s job wasn’t an issue.

Scott Bair reports that Raiders owner Mark Davis and HC Dennis Allen have yet to meet, but are expected to do so tonight.

Bair adds that the contracts for several assistants who were previously reported to have agreed to extension have been drawn up, but not fully executed.

It appears as though Allen’s future is still in question. We’ll have more as the news is available.

Paul Gutierrez reports that “at least” six Raiders assistants have accepted one-year extensions following Tuesday night meeting between owner Mark Davis and HC Dennis Allen.

Gutierrez’s source added that Allen is “probably” safe as the team’s head coach.

There was at least some concern regarding Allen’s future with the team given that most of the team’s assistant coaches were without extensions as of Tuesday. Now that the team has taken steps to secure their coaching staff, it seems very likely that Allen will remain the team’s head coach.
