Report: Ravens “Not Close” To An Agreement With LT Eugene Monroe

Aaron Wilson just reported that the Ravens have reached an agreement with TE Dennis Pitta on a fine-year contract.

This, of course, implies that the Ravens will shift their focus towards locking up LT Eugene Monroe in the coming days.

According to Aaron Wilson, the Ravens are “not close” to reaching an agreement with Monroe and contract talks have yet to reach an advanced stage.

  • Wilson adds that Baltimore’s primary focus was to get Pitta taken care of before addressing other free agents.

The Ravens do have their franchise tag at their disposal if needed, but the tag could cost them as much as $12.275 million fully guaranteed, according to Brian McIntyre’s projections.

Monroe, 26, was able to step in and play very well for the Ravens at position of need for them. Trades rarely produce immediate results in the NFL, so there is something to be said about Monroe’s performance last season.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 qualifying left tackle in the league. We have both Monroe and Albert listed in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
