Report: Steve Smith Will Meet With The Ravens On Friday

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the former Panthers WR Steve Smith will fly to Baltimore tonight and spend Friday meeting with the Ravens.

Jason La Canfora reports that the Ravens are working to set up a visit with former Panthers WR Steve Smith.

  • La Canfora adds that he expects a meeting to scheduled “sooner rather than later.”
  • Ian Rapoport reports that there is “mutual interest” between the two sides, but nothing is imminent at this point in time.
  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens have emerged as the favorites to sign former Panthers WR Steve Smith.
  • Aaron Wilson reports that the Ravens are expected to reach out to Smith after 4 p.m today when he is officially no longer on the Panthers’ roster.

Smith reportedly had the the Cowboys, Patriots, Ravens, Buccaneers and Chargers, all on his list of teams to be traded to, but the Ravens have been the linked to Smith more than any other team.

Baltimore re-signed Jacoby Jones, but could still use another receiver and Smith could end up playing a similar role to the one Anquan Boldin did a few years ago.

Smith, 34, totaled 64 receptions for 745 yards and four touchdowns for the Panthers last season over the course of 15 games.
