Report: Ravens Have Been In Contact With James Harrison’s Agent

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens have been in touch with free agent OLB  James Harrison in recent days and are scheduled to talk again on Saturday.

Wilson adds that they haven’t discussed a contract yet and deal is by no means “imminent” at this point in time.

“(Baltimore GM) Ozzie (Newsome) is going to have to sign at least a couple of linebackers,” said agent Bill Parise. “I know where we stand. He’s made it clear that there’s interest from the Ravens.

The Ravens appear to be in the process of completely overhauling their defense. Paul Kruger is in Cleveland, Dannell Ellerbe is in Miami, Ed Reed is meeting with the Texans and Cary Williams just signed with the Eagles.

Harrison, 35, is by no means anymore than a stop-gap, but he was productive in the limited amount of time he played last season. Baltimore has been great at grabbing guys off the street and getting them to be productive players for them.

So far, Harrison’s agent has mentioned that he would be willing to play for the Browns, Ravens, Saints, Patriots and the Eagles, but Baltimore is starting look like a real possibility.

We have Harrison listed as the No. 64 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
